In this strong geometric abstract painting, bold reds, forest green, and spring green team with black and white to make a dynamic statement. Inspired by homes perched on hillsides, the piece also features touches of violet and pale blue. In some places, the top layer of paint is scraped carefully away to let the color underneath show through. A strong statement that utilizes the magic of the complementary colors red and green to deliver a pleasing image. Transitional art for a favorite room or hallway, or for an office.
"This geometric abstract is meant to evoke the feeling of a city built on a hill; for instance, Boston's Beacon Hill, or San Francisco. I used pencil to lay in the shapes, then filled them with acrylic paint in black, white, and various shades of the complementary colors red and green.
"I achieved the 'grunge' look in the lower right by placing a Styrofoam plate on the wet paint, letting it dry, and then ripping the plate away to reveal the colors underneath.
"The heavy texture was achieved by using liberal amounts of paint."
